My daughter had a trip to the Central Park Zoo. I had only been there once when I was a kid. It’s so small and not too exciting. It was mostly birds. All the kool animals were sleeping and facing away from everyone like the polar bear and snow leopard. The only sleeping animal I was able to photograph was the red panda. Adorable!

The black and white photo looks heavily retouched but it was not. I love this photo and it looks amazing in black and white. The peacock tail feathers look like it has eyes all around. Awesome. The peacock was my favorite subject. It’s colors were so bold and beautiful. I only wish I had more time to properly compose all my photos, it was so packed in there.

I don’t know what the pink flower is called but it huge and gorgeous!

So on the 11th, I went to the Five Iron Frenzy comeback tour at the Gramercy here in NYC. My husband turned me on to them back when we first started dating. I was so disappointed when I found out they had broken up. We were so excited to find out that they were coming back!

The Gramercy is a venue (like most) that don’t allow interchangable lens cameras. So I opted not to take either of my Nikon bodies and instead thought to take my Olympus OM-D (EM5) which was my birthday present this year :D I took the kit zoom lens with me figuring it would perform well for wide shots. I also took a Sigma 30mm 2.8 with me for closer shots. I thought that because of it’s small size, I would not be bothered. Boy was I wrong! But at least the only confiscated my 30mm lens.

During the show I wasn’t unable to use the camera in manual mode which was driving me crazy. Damn me for not reading the manual more. Last time I used the camera, I was taking long exposures and I could not remember what settings I changed in manual. Everything I tried did not work. Even when I cranked up the ISO to 4000, which should have blown it out did not work. I was still getting long exposures.. ugh.

So anyway, these were taken in..autooooo… ew. These won’t be going in my portfolio :( But at least I have some shots of my own.

I misplaced this photo so long ago on my back up drive. I was on 16th Street walking to Adorama and saw a person carrying this dress on their back. By the time I dug out my camera the person disappeared through the crowd. But to my surprise, a few blocks down I saw the same dress hanging on this fire escape.

More photos from my La Sardina! Trip to the Museum of Natural History. All the shots of the exhibits are hand-held shots, so some of them are really shaky and blurry but otherwise pretty good and not too badly exposed either since I had to use the Bulb setting. I just estimated how long to keep the shutter open.

Going to visit Lomography tomorrow!
