So this is my “new” SLR. My Olympus OM10. I had wanted to get a Mamiya DTL1000 but it seems it wasn’t meant to be as I constantly lost the auctions. After another frustrating loss, I searched for the OM10 and found the perfect auction with Buy It Now for a super decent 30 bux.
The OM10 is partially automatic camera. You can manually focus, set your aperture but exposure time is automatic. Great thing about the OM10 is that you can buy a manual adapter (pictured). I searched once again online and found one already attached to a body and I was able to get that for a lot less than all the other auctions with only the adapter which were running for 40 bux plus. I picked up the adapter with body (which has new light seals) was only 15! Lucky me! I also found of lot of four lenses on Etsy for dirt cheap which included a Zuiko zoom lens. Not sure if the other lenses (including a Tamron!) will also work for it, if not I’ll see about hopefully finding some compatible adapters.
I have taken it out to take a few test shots but I plan to use this camera this week when I go to Manhattan.
It’s funny. My camera collecting started with me looking for an SLR camera to replace my Canon Rebel EOS 2000 which was not working anymore about a year ago. Now, I have many vintage cameras and only now have I gotten my replacement for it. Little did I know how much my love for photography would grow this last year. So happy :)
