Yea, I’m never going to get to record a video blog. It’s impossible in my neighborhood (noisy neighbors, two nearby airports, live two blocks from the train…yea). So here is the long over due show off of my Fourcornerstore goodies! My daughter poked her arm in that shot, haha. I got their Swiss Gas Mask bag (which I question whether or not this is really a repurposed bag). It looks and feels grand-spanking new, and the bag on the site and the one I have has the same numbers printed on it.. hmm. Either way it’s a great bag, I was able to fit like three cameras, a few rolls of film and those field notebooks in there, not bad. Beware that the inside draw string pocket does not have a sewn bottom. I don’t understand why, but I plan on busting out the sewing machine and fixing that issue. I also purchased some 120, 127 film and a 9 pack of 35mm film (oh and the field notebooks.. love). Fourcorner was nice enough to give a bonus pouch with two extra rolls of 35mm film inside (woot!).
That box over there is the 35mm TLR.. it’s not a Gakkenflex. No magazine just the camera parts and instructions. It’s actually from a company called Recesky. I wrote an email to Fourcorner and expressed that I was a bit disappointed, but I was told that Otona no kagaku magazine had stopped production on the Gakkenflex (vol.25) kit and that Recesky had purchased the molds from Otona no kagaku. However, from looking at multiple photos and videos on the web the molds are different so not sure if Fourcorner has been told the wrong info or what…
I built it and it was pretty easy to do, despite the japanese instructions. It’s well illustrated. This video was pretty helpful too. This past weekend I customized it and took it out for a spin. I’ll post some pix tomorrow of my customized faux-kkenflex.
